Jockey’s Ridge

Me and my peep.

Here we are walking up one side of Jockey’s Ridge.  We do this every year.  I love it.  It’s the tallest natural sand dune in the Eastern United States.  (It’s also where I pick up a lot of painful sand spurs in my feet!)

What You Learned Today:

  • I don’t think We’d do this in the summertime.  The sand would be too hot for my feet!
  • There are lots of weird things out there to see.  Like this mushroom growing right in the sand:

Don't eat this mushroom!

About The Scottie Chronicles

Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a dog blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. He would have been 12 years old in March 2018. The Scottie Chronicles is dedicated to Stuart and the joy he shared with everyone who met him or saw him from afar. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!

  1. Don’t you just hate those sand spurs – they seem to get more tangled in when Mom tries to get them out. Last Spring she ended up taking our cousin Micheal’s fishing scissors to remove them from under our arms – ouch!!!
