Watching TV

Watching over my kingdom. From inside. Of course.

Some of us have had this discussion before. About sitting and staring out of the window. Or the door. We Scotties tend to do this a lot.

We call it “watching TV.”

Actually, Miss Kathy taught us that term in obedience class. I’ve never had a problem with barking while I watch TV, but Miss Kathy says to her student humans, “just turn off the TV” if your canine companions get a bit too vocal – that means incessant barking – while looking out of a door or window.

What You Learned Today:

  • We Scotties love to watch things. From inside.
  • Some of my dog blog friends have told me that they stare out of windows all day long.
  • I don’t have the patience for that. Naptime is too important to me and I have to rest.
  • Do you watch TV at your house? What are your favorite channels? Do you think we watch the same shows? Let me know, because I’m really curious about this.

About The Scottie Chronicles

Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!

  1. Piper loves to watch TV – the real TV – and loves movies like Bolt that have animated animals in them. He also spends a lot of time on top of our crates looking out the window. Mom bought him a bench, but he prefers the top of the crates. He’s a strange little man sometimes!!

    • Piper can do what he wants. Even if it IS watching TV from on top of a crate.

Hey, She wants me to tell you that She’s having trouble with Her “open ID” when She tries to leave comments on your Blogger blogs. (Whatever that means.)

      BFN, AaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRoooooooo! Stuart

Hi Stuart! It’s a hot summer for us black puppies, huh?
I love to watch TV, my favorite channels are Squirrel TV, Chipmunk Planet, Dogs Being Walked.Tube, and The REal Delivery Men and Trash Men of Chesterfield County. What are yours?????

    • Hey Toby!

My absolute favorite TV show is “Barbara the Mailman” – guess that should be “Barbara the Mailwoman.” This show just kills me. And it comes on twice every day! It re-runs when I’m watching TV at Sniglet’s house.

Woo weee we love that show! My next favorite is “Someone’s Coming to The Door.” The suspense just breaks me up. Is it a delivery person? A neighbor? A trusted friend or family member? You just never know.

Hope to meet you one day…. Aroooo! Stuart

  3. Kyla says:

Not me-too many commercials, but i love the ones for Cesar gourmet dog food. My TV is looking at the parrot. If anything happens in the cage, like the bird flaps her wings or takes a bath-I’m on the case. My peeps call it the “terrier channel”.

    • So, Kyla, are you a cousin? A Westie? I love Westies. Some of my best friends are Westies.

I’d love to be in a dog commercial. I think it’s time for a Scottie on real television. How about a reality show? I’ll have to speak with Her about that.

Keep an eye on that parrot, Aaaroooo, Stuart

  4. Peggy says:

Button watches real tv. And the Westminster Dog Show really gets her to barking. In fact, any dog or cat on tv catches her attention quickly. The squirrels outside in the maple tree seem to tease her also. She always barrels outside, barking as if to scare anything away. And at night we think it’s Button who’s the scared one. LOL

  5. Kendra, Daisy and Bella says:

Kendra spends most of her time in at the front window. She even sleeps there. Ever on guard for people walking down the street. We’re students of the world too, and LOVE watching everything happening.

Bella is the only one who actually watches television. She like ‘Inspector Rex’, he’s an Austrian Police Dog. We think Bella understands German. Or she can read the subtitles. She loves it.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella

  6. edgar says:

hiya stuart! i love to watch tv! my favorite channel is the “vermin in the yard” channel and my least favorite is “nasty little children riding skateboards on my sidewalk” channel. mum definitely has to turn off the tv when that channel is on cause i just can’t help yelling!

    • Hey Edgar! We’ve been wondering what’s up with you lately.

I don’t like the skateboarding channel either. It makes me crazy. I’m getting better with the “people riding scooters” shows, but NOT the skateboarding stuff.

      AAArooooodles, Stuart

      • Toby says:

Wonder why some of us like real tv and others don’t?? I don’t even notice the real tv. I like the one outside.

Go ahead...Bark Out Loud! ArroOOOO!
