Huuum....what if it's NOT a chipmunk?
So the weather’s crisp and cool so I thought I’d stake out this little water feature thingy again.
I’m thinking it might not be a chipmunk in all these rocks. Maybe I’m wrong.
But you know Scotties, I’ll sit here and stare at it until I figure it out.
What You Learned Today:
- We Scotties are tenacious. That’s for sure.
- We’ll stare at something, chase something or dig in something until we find whatever it is.

About The Scottie Chronicles
Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!
Carrleigh loves chasing salamanders. She will miss them when the weather turns cooler.
My peeps told me not to do stuff like this. I do it anyway. They think that scorpions hide in there. So What? He got “tagged” once, She went frantic and He had to take an aspirin to make her happy. He is still alive. I’d be OK too-ain’t fraid of no bug.
You know, my peeps told me to stay away from these rocks, too. But only because I TEAR UP THE ROCKS! Like re-arranging the furniture! They were none too pleased. (Glad your peep is OK.)
Roo Roo, Stuart
The chippers hide in the rock walls in our yard too, Stuart! Don’t let him get away!
Love ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
The fact that they move what ever is in the way is what gets me. Hoke went head first into a groundhog hole…I closed my eyes, crossed my fingers and prayed that every
Thing I read about pulling them out by their tail was true. Thankfully it worked or we would have lost our shed! Hope it’s just a chipmunk and not something that will hurt him.
Woof!
Oh….about those tails….yesssss! That’s what they’re for! I love it when He pulls me up by my tail! Happened only a moment ago in jest…We all laughed.
Now, about those groundhogs…that’s another matter. GET ‘EM HOKE!
Roo Roo, Stuart
Hoke here! I have had a couple of run Ins with those pesky groundhogs. I corner them and bark until I get my dog dads attention…one day he didn’t come fast enough and I had to try and get him myself…luckily I didn’t get hurt.
I know you are “supposedly” able to pull a Westie out of the ground by the tail. Kenzie, the Westie, weighs 10 pounds less than I do. I didn’t know you could do that with a Scottie also. Don’t tell my peeps-Kenzie still remembers his “big snip” and I remember my “big cut”. Pulling tails on a Scottie-you’ll get the big “snip and cut” $)*$)*)#W
Dear Kyla,
Scottie tails are for pulling us out of trouble, out of the way…out of just about anything. Yes indeedy. That’s what they’re for EXCEPT when we’re little pups when things like cartilage, muscles, bones and stuff are still forming and getting strong.
Pull a Scottie tail today! You’ll be glad you did! Roo Roo, Stuart
