Interceptor. I’m Not Liking it…

You’re right. I’m NOT very happy in this picture. And why should I be? This is what happened.

It was my favorite day of the month. When I get my brown chewie thing that I love. My Heartgard. Who cares if it’s good for me? I just love getting the thing once a month. Not only does it taste good, but it’s quite a little routine We go through to enjoy it.

She took me to the little storage thing in the den, opened it up – just like normal – got out the little white thing that it comes in, opened it up– just like normal — and I was tap-dancing on two legs all over the place in eager anticipation. I even “roo roo-ed” really loudly. When…she popped a pill in my mouth.

A pill. You read that correctly. A p-i-l-l. What did I do? I chewed it up with my tail just a waggin’. Didn’t even realize it WASN’T my beloved brown chewie thing.

A pill.

Then, She gave me a Lean Treat. My favorite real treat. Not a medicine.

Done. Over. Case closed. That was it.

What You Learned Today:

  • I had to switch from my Heartgard to Interceptor to better ward off heart and intestinal parasites.
  • I loved Heartgard.
  • I hate Interceptor.
  • What kind of a brainless fool does She think I am anyway? Once, yes. Twice? Nope.
  • I don’t think I’m going to chew next month’s pill.
  • She’ll have to figure out a new routine.

Our vet has the brown chewies without the Heartgard and gives them as treats. Maybe you peeps can get one of these from your vet for you each month. If not come to Florida and we will hook you up. Love Sid and Shelby

Our vet used to have the Heartguard without the medicine as treats. Not any more-boo hiss. Both Kenzie and I get daily pills and She surrounds them in a teaspoonful of favorite wet food. I gulp it down so fast I don’t even taste the pill. Did I mention that I’m a foodie; chowing down is my favorite thing to do. Kenzie doesn’t want to eat anything sometimes. I wonder about Kenzie. We still stand for the Heartguard on the first of every month. We have a built-in calendar and we KNOW we’re due the chewy brown thing. Not getting it is against the contract we have with our peeps. Bennies, like Heartguard, can only be added and never taken away. Tell Her to get your favorite food and put the pill in that. An acceptable substitution is OK-I just reread the contract and double checked.

    • GLAD to hear about that contract. Note to self: check my contract with the peeps.

We’ll see how next month goes. I love food, too. But sometimes I’m like Kenzie. WHAAAAA????? Did I say that????

      Now I’m wondering about myself.

    Hey Stuart!

Our mom takes a Wheat Thin and breaks it into fourths. She then spreads a little peanut butter on a bottom piece, puts the pill on it, puts a little peanut butter on the pill and tops that with another piece of Wheat Thin. We get a peanut butter and pill teensy little sandwich. Our vet thinks mom has spoiled us, but we just like to think we have her well-trained!

    • OH….I think I’m gonna get Her to try that next month. I like crunchy things – like rice cakes – I don’t think I’ve ever had peanut butter. Sounds good though!

Whoa, you sure do have your Mom peep trained! It’s nice to hear from y’all!
