Think It’s Time for a Trim?

You know, I can always tell it’s time for a trip to the Scottie Spa when the hairs at the base of my ears get all sticky-up. And the hairs between my toe pads get all fluffy. I’m trying to grow it out all long, like She is with Her hairs, but I just can’t stand it anymore.

What You Learned Today:

  • Scotties — although we ARE bee-you-ti-ful — just don’t grow this way. We need our hair cut to look all dapper.
  • I go to the Scottie Spa every so often. The last time I went was back in June.
  • Time for a new do. Well, not a NEW do, just a cleaned up do.
  • How often do YOU get your hairs cut?

About The Scottie Chronicles

Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!

We don’t have to get coiffed, but we get a bath every 6 weeks or so; and we get furminated every couple of days because we SHED like crazy!! Do you shed, Stuart? We can’t wait to see the beautified version tomorrow!!

    -Gizmo, Bart and Ruby

    • You know what? I don’t shed too much. She uses the furminator on me, too, to get out my undercoat about once a week. OH…and I’m not sure I can get an appointment at the Spa today, so you might have to wait for a picture of my newly bee-you-ti-ful self later on. Thanks for popping by.

Hellooo Stuart ~ I am going Saturday to the Spa. Every three months I get the full treatment. I don’t mind except for the nails and the squeeze under the tail. That is a little personal.

Kenzie and I are going soon. We used to have a groomer with a truck and trailer that parked in our driveway and groomed us at home. Kenzie didn’t like it for some reason. He screamed bloody murder and piddled all over. The groomer fired Kenzie. While we all wonder about Kenzie-the groomer took action. Now we go for the afternoon and Kenzie starts shivering and wailing ten miles away. Kenzie knows, but how? I wonder about Kenzie.

    • Poor Kenzie. That little surfer Dude needs to chill out. I was shivering Saturday at Our house because of some unexpected firework booms – BUT – as it turns out, they were actually little earthquakes. We Scotties are smart. We know things ahead of time. Kenzie? Uh…I’m not so sure. Give him a pat, though. We all need pats every now and again.

I’d love a traveling groomer! Cool!

Hi Stuart…I over heard Mum talking to my groomer and it must be me she is talking about..looks like Wed. is the dreaded day!!!

“oh, the inhumanity of it all…Fur flying, toenails clipped…and the other dogs sit in their cages and laugh..Miss Shelia is sweet and loves her pups, but she don’t put up with no growling…I must behave muy self or else a pop on the snout to remind me of who is standing on the floor and whos sitting on the table”
    Good luck my buddy…

Well Stuart, I give Mr. Fox his baths myself. He’s not a superior Scottie – just a little stray although very cute. He has a coat that so far doesn’t seem to need cutting, only washing. He’s not a fan of the washing but, hey, from a human’s perspective Stuart, it’s gotta be done! Good luck at the spa!

    • Mr. Fox, stray though he may be, is lucky to have you as his guardian! (PLUS, remember, all Scotties are Superior my friend. Every single one.)

Oh…I get my belly washed occasionally. That’s a little bit too much information.

Mom learned to groom Scotties a long time go. She takes care of Shelby, myself, and our rescue cousin Rocky. We enjoy watching each other getting tortured(groomed). Sid -the Man of La Mancha Weinstein.

I had an appointment with my groomer today, but Dad cancelled it as it was 35°C here today, and he thought that the stress would be to much for me (and him…).

  8. Jazzi says:

I hate to say it but I think it may be time. You will look and feel great when it is all done!!

  9. edgar says:

ma usually tries to take me in at the change of each season for my furs to be cleaned up – i get baths in between though. i get more haircuts than she does – hee hee! on a not so funny matter she found a wormy in my poo and i have to go to the vet this week 😦

    • EDGAR! You KNOW I had that little problem a while back. So, when you get your meds, just eat ’em up in cottage cheese. All will be well.

      Aroo, Stuart

      • edgar says:

phew – thanks stuart…we never tried cottage cheese. she usually wraps it up in a little piece of cheese and she thinks she’s tricking me – puh-leese! i’m a scottie after all – i know what she’s up to!

i convinced her to help me type a bloggie today so go check it out if you have time…we are back (for the time being :P)

  10. Daisy says:

Whenever Bella has a banana tail we ALL get groomed…unfair! We get clipped because SHE can’t do the stripping bit…..fine by us. BUT we don’t get clipped very close to the skin.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella

  11. Stuart, you are still pretty handsome even when you need to go for a spa day.

  12. Groucho says:

Wow, I thought it was only me that didn’t like having my nails clipped. thank goodness I’m not an orphan in that department. I become quite precious about it all and hide my paws by sitting down in weird poses. My groomer is very understanding though and eventually coaxes me into allowing her to cut them – and I receive a whole bunch of kisses and hugs afterwards so I can’t complain really!!!!

  13. Hoke says:

OHHHH Maybe you will have that long skirt that I am trying to have…but she keeps cutting it. Stuart you look fuzzy and handsome all at the same time. We love the Radley wallet too…did you get that for her?! HOpe you can go to the spa without having to get a bath! Good luck:)

    • Nope. Sad to say, no wallet yet. I’m still thinking about it though…nice things. Now, about that skirt. A kilt is great for all thing West Highland and Scottie! We’ll get there soon!

      ArooOOOOOOO, Stuart

      • Hoke says:

Did you see what the whitedog blog posted today!? A scottie speaker!! How cute!! Any way, I’m going to have a kilt by christmas she says if it kills her…it may kill me because he just brushed me and pulled all my hairs…he hasn’t a clue as to what he’s doing. HAHAHAHAHAH!!!

  14. meesh1957 says:

    Stuart Dude!!!

Shhhhh with the whole hair cut thing. Geez… Next thing you know each of us will be back on the grooming table with Mom plucking, using the stripper knives, clipping, and just generally annoying us both. Don’t jinx us man!

    Brothers in tangles,

    Angus and Fergus

  15. meesh1957 says:

So far we have been very good at keeping our nails short by ourselves. On the occasion that Mom has to trim, we don’t like it but we deal. Grrrrr… she is using something different that does not pinch. It’s a acrylic nail trimmer, sort of shaves them, Mom is very careful.

  16. Piper MacT says:

Just saw on CNN that there was just an earthquake in your home state, hope you and your peeps are ok.

  17. Abigail says:
