Just Turn That Frown Upside Down!

Have you ever noticed that dogs make people smile? And, well, Scotties I have to say, we Scotties make folks smile ALOT!

Not a car goes past Us while We’re out walking where the driver doesn’t stare and smile at me. Sometimes they do a double take. Almost like whiplash.

People poke each other and point at me, then smile. ALOT.

It’s nice to wield such power.

What You Learned Today:

  • Think about it. When was the last time you saw a Scottie and didn’t smile? Hum? Really.
  • I think weiner dogs have the same affect.
  • And maybe a Westie or two.
  • The next time you find yourself frowning, just hop on over to The Scottie Chronicles and turn that frown upside down!
  • Or, at the very least, take a gander at a dog. I’ll bet you’ll smile.

About The Scottie Chronicles

Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!

  1. Bridget and Cally says:

    Hey Stuart!
You’re right! And two of us at one time cause even more smiles. In fact, if our Mom walks the neighborhood without us (and we don’t let her do that very often!), several people will come out and ask her if anything has happened to us. It’s nice to be loved and missed by the people who look for us every day!

    Cally and Bridget

    • WOW! Y’all go for walks without your peep/s? Cool! And you know, it’s funny…the other day my peeps and I were in the yard. I was snoopervising Their work when a neighbor drove by. Saw me, but didn’t see Them. She screeched on the brakes and was afraid I was meandering all alone.

You’re right. It’s nice to be loved!

AroooooOOO to you in Rocky Creek Scotties land out west! Stuart

  2. Marcella says:

We both get lots of compliments on how cute we are but my sister, Amelia, is a showstopper. When I was a wee Lass, mom was holding me and went inside leaving Amelia to Dad’s care for one little minute. When mom came out, she asked where Amelia was, that’s when she heard a HONK! Mom looked down the driveway to see Amelia in the middle of the road just standing there smelling the pavement. There was a parade of cars stopped in both directions and every one of them was admiring her beauty, at least that’s the way Amelia tells it. Amelia says if mom would have just left her in the road the people would have had time to get pictures. My sister Amelia is not only beautiful, but thoughtful.
    Work it Stuart,
    Marcella

  3. Jazzi says:

    wags
    Jazzi

  4. christina says:

Yes! Scotties definitely make me smile! I will admit, some other dogs do too!! Thanks for being so darn cute!

  5. Douglas says:

I’m like Jazzi. When my Peeps and I take a walk or go to the dog park, people are always asking if I’m a Scottie and then they fawn all over me. And Mommy says she’s always AWWWWWWWWWWWing whenever she sees other Scotties!

    Rooooo!
    Douglas

  6. Kyla says:

There are times when Kenzie and I are walked together. Someone will say-“Look at the two Scotties”. Kenzie gets so mad he turns into a West Highland red-faced Terrier. I wonder about Kenzie-what’s so bad about being called a “Scotty”?

    • For the life of moi, I don’t know!!

      Arooodles, Stuart

      • Piper MacT says:

Perhaps Kenzie does not like to be accused of social climbing…>;-)
I get the “Oh look a Scottie, you jsut don’T see them anymore” alot here too, along with the ,”did you know that Hitler had two?”. Yes Dad does know it, and as he says dogs cannot choose their owners…

        Arroos to you
        Piper MacT

        • Amelia and Marcella says:

Piper MacT we have never had a Hitler or Eva Braun comment, wowsers. The most odd comment we get is ….. are those Schnauzers? Does anybody else get the Schnauzer comment? My mom is convinced it’s the beard and eyebrow connection.
          Amelia and Marcella

  7. Hey Kenzie … I hear ya! People always ask if I am a Scottie too! Scotties get so much attention that sometimes we just go ahead and say YES so they will love on me a little more. Nothing wrong with being a “White Scottie” if it will get you a head rub 🙂

  8. Daisy says:

Same thing here. And when I have my head out of the car window…on our rides…We give LOTS of smiles! People even nudge their companions and point so they don’t miss out on a smile, too.

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

    • It’s a universal language!

      Aroo, Stuart

    • Kyla says:

Our pack/flock (to be PC for Kismet) has 2 cars. One you know about and we don’t have room for 2 dogs unless I drive, but that’s only in reverse. The other has a small back seat that has windows that don’t go down. It is very difficult to put smiles on peeps when they can’t see you. Kenzie and I wonder why our peeps don’t like us trying to put smiles on strangers faces when we try to make certain that they can hear us. When that happens, They need to be turned upside down.

  9. Lee says:

It’s a universal sign of happiness and face the facts we Scots make people smile.
    Sweet William The Scot

  10. Noodledog says:

    Stuart

Same with me–is that a scottie? and you don’t see them anymore, and the big SMILES, and cars
slowing down to look….she makes sure my face is clean before we leave the house

    Noodledog

  11. Lucy and Mac says:

Our clan goes to Lowes together… 2 scotts in the cart gets lots of comments smiles and head rubs. And yes…we wag the tails and offer a kiss or two !! True that most folks in the south have no idea what breed we are. The real fun is at Warm Springs ,Ga for Fala Days !!!Lots and lots of us scotts~~~ the sniffing is AROONDERFUL !!! Lucy & Mackelbee

  12. We too get the same comments, “you don’t see many Scotties any more” and “you’ve got your hands full haven’t you!” (we always get that comment but more so when there was 5 of us). But people ALWAYS stop. Always. We see lots of peeps and dogs and they don’t get stopped – just us Scotties, and yes everyone walks away with a BIG SMILE on their faces. And She’s smiling too! Arhhh!
