Not the greatest picture in the world, but here I am. With my plate. Yes, I eat from a plate.
Today’s the last dose of my Panacur (again) until three weeks when I do it all over again. Then have another test to see if my intestinal parasites were eradicated. What a word – “eradicated” – it’s a serious word for a serious condition.
And I really don’t want to talk about it. I’d rather look at this plate and help the peepsters figure out what to do with these:
Poor things. They have no clue what to do with these figs. If you have an idea, bark at me and I’ll let them know.
OK. Back to my parasites. See, I’ve had whipworms TWICE in the last couple of years and recently found out Scotties are more prone than other dogs to get them. I’m sharing this embarrassment with you because I care.
I’m not sure how long I’ve had these gross things this time. And, my dogtor’s office had a, let’s just say, a miscommunication with the peeps about it and We didn’t find out and start the meds until about a month after I was tested. Geez.
The good thing is, though, that Novartis is paying for the meds because I was on one of their worm/parasite preventatives AND STILL GOT THEM!!!!
Moral of the THIS story: 1.) get tested. 2.) get medicated and 3.) get rid of them. They’re hard to detect and to get truly rid of.
Who knows where I got them. Where We live, these nasty things live in the soil for a looooong time. And, well, I just walk along, pick them up sometimes, lick my feet, or eat something tasty off of the ground and well, there you have it. Pretty common.
Let’s hope my new combo drug, Trifexis, helps me keep these things away. FOR GOOD.
What You Learned Today:
- I’ve got nasty things living inside of me. But I feel GRRRREAT!
- The next round of my meds is in three weeks.
- Keep your paws crossed that this is the LAST TIME.
- Tell your furiends to get tested for these things and get on some meds!!!! (Not a Novartis product, though.)
- And, for those of you out there who DON’T PICK UP AFTER YOUR POOCH – shame on you. That’s where they come from most of the time. (We can’t believe people don’t pick up poop…)
YOUR DAILY REMINDERS:
- It’s time to vote pour moi! Go here and cast your vote for me in the Thundershirt contest!
- It’s time to vote for Lilly over at Rocky Creek Scottie Adventures! She’s the cutest pet in Virginia!
- Thanks for your support!
- OH….any fig recipes out there? What do YOUR peeps do with them? Do these look ripe to you? Tell me. Because I’ve got to know. Aroooo.
I’ve never had figs before, so no idea – Likely I’d just woof the down:-)
Glad to hear you’re feeling OK though.
A couple of weeks ago I went for a poop in a field of really long grass and mummy had to crash around for ages to find it. Later on she was laughing about it to another dog walker, and he said ‘why did you bother? nobody plays there’.

OH!!!! Good for your mum to pick it up!!!!
Oh me. “Why do you bother?” – Don’t people realize that poop stuff makes its way into the water supplies? Look what’s happening to that lake in Germany where people pee when they’re swimming and the plant and animal life is suffering!!!!!
Arooooos to you!

I don’t know what you should do with that plate of stuff. Why don’t you ask Newton? Your peep must grow them. Why doesn’t peep grow something useful like green beans?
LikeLike
OH! A fig newton! I’d love that. Really. I would. Naw, the peeps didn’t grow these. A neighbor said, “Please pick my figs!!! I have too many!” So, We did.
Green beans. You KNOW my Godmother Carol grows green beans. The peeps need a page from her play book about that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Holy Batdog Stuart! We are really sorry to hear of your…infestation(?). We will definitely get mom to speak to our dogter about it next week.
As for the figs, we asked mom and she said to tell you: firstly, the figs we get here go a dark purple colour when they are ripe and go soft to the touch; secondly, they go well (fresh & uncooked) with cheeses like goats cheese and blue cheese as well as with prosciutto and if you want to make a healthy dessert they are great with plain greek yoghurt and honey.
We hope you continue feeling grrrrreat and thanks for the health heads-up!

Stop it-I can’t stand it. It’s hours before dinner time and already you’re making me drool. Blue cheese is my absolute favorite.

Thanks for the good fig ideas! Kyla, do you REALLY eat blue cheese???

Yes, but I don’t get much of it. They give it to me on special occasions. I know it is just sitting in the refrigerator. They make salad dressing with it and I love that also.

I think I’d like it too. The peeps like it. Huum…..wonder what’s in Our fridge? OHHHH…They’ve got some pesto goat cheese. HUNGRY!!!!

Well Stuart, at least you’re nearly rid of the rotters. Poor thing. Get the peeps to prepare you a lettuce, mozzarella, fig and serrano ham salad – that’ll make up for all the free riding those parasites have been up to.

Whoa! That sounds delicious!! Thank you!

Well glad you don’t have to pay for your treatment since the drug you were taking did not work.
We look at the meds and most say below 25lbs or above for the next dosage. We think sometimes when you are close to the 25lbs the nosage is not enough, but the higher dosage seems like it would be to strong. Lee tries to keep me at 20lbs.
Now for the figs, they look green. We get purple figs. We do a salad of fresh figs, prosciutto. goat cheese, and a spring salad mix. Lee is a rabbit the way she likes greens.

You can eat figs just as they are – when they are nice and soft. You can make fig jam, fig chutney and so on – You can even make dried figs as a tasty snack.
Nobody loves me, everyone hates me – I think I’ll go eat worms. Stop digesting worms little dude – we all love you and want you around many many years!

LOL! My peep remembers that little song!

Get rid of the worms, Stuart. I had them when I was rescued but not since. The de-worming process isn’t as bad as it was years ago, I’m told.

I’m really crossing my paws that this Trifexis stuff will work. If I MUST take a drug, at least it should WORK!
LikeLike
That’s incomplete. It should work as intended with no side effects. I love the ads that go “Have a blemish on your big toe? Take Poisonella. Side effects are that taking Poisonella may cause blindness and death. Ask your doctor if Poisonella is right for you!”

This really isn’t funny, but it IS!!! LOL!!!
Wonder why the Novartis stuff doesn’t work for moi??? Oh dear. Scotties: beware of whipworms! Gosh that sounds nasty, doesn’t it? “Whipworms’ — EEEEeeeew.

Gosh Mr. Stuart, wormies don’t sound nice at all! I’m glad you are feeling well in spite of them, though. We’ve never eated any figgies so we’re not sure if you can make resapees with them, but Mom always Googles when she wants to make a new foodable!

I wonder if I’d like a fig? I’ll tell the peep to do what your peep does: Google. Yep! Thanks!

Humans who don’t pick up their puppers poops make me (and my human) mad… We see quite a bit of poop just left there when we go on walkies. So inconsiderate!!
Hope you’re problem is sorted out this time.

As for the figs, whenever SHE wants a recipe, SHE goes to all recipes.com There’s usually something there that’s interesting. Also, people review the recipes so you know if it’s worth it.

It didn’t work too well for fleas over here but you know those California fleas…. hippies I guess? Anywaaay… I hope they go away. I am very bother by other dog’s poop. What is wrong with people not picking it up? We are on poop patrol in the yard everyday. How hard is it to bend over with a baggie???? Ugh… I’m going to make myself happy now and vote you!
