Stuart’s List. Why Not?

Ah me. Off on an adventure!

Ah me. Off on an adventure!

Y’all might remember this little watercolor of me in my travel crate. I love to travel, so I thought, why not create a Stuart’s List of places I stay? Yeah, there’s Angie’s List, Craig’s List, Emily’s List…why not a Stuart’s List?

Here goes…when I was in Staunton last week, I stayed at the Comfort Inn, where you can chomp on freshly popped popcorn in the middle of the night, but you could take your peeps to the Stonewall Jackson Hotel. (They were completely booked when We went, but I’m going to stay there next time. It’s right next door to the Shakespeare Theatre and you know how I love a little culture.)

When I go to the Peaks of Otter, I stay in Bedford at the Super 8. (Hopefully, when the Peaks of Otter Lodge opens again this summer, they’ll take dogs. Paws crossed.)

You can see places like this near Bedford and The Peaks of Otter.

And, TA DA!!!! drum roll please, when I go to Nags Head on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, we either rent a house, or last time, We stayed in a friend’s cottage on the beach, BUT I just found another place for me to take my two-legged peeps! It’s called The Roanoke Inn and it’s in Manteo, just over the bridge. (Manteo is where lots of my holiday photos have been taken over the last two or three years.)

You can see places like this in Manteo.

I emailed them yesterday about their dog policy and YEP! They have two options for pampered pooches. Sweet!

You can also stay at The John Yancey Inn in Kill Devil Hills on The Outer Banks, too. We stayed there a couple of years in a row over the holidays. Right on the ocean.

Remember the snow storm over Christmas a few years ago? Here I am right on the beach right in front of Our room at The John Yancey.

And, last but not least in this edition of Stuart’s List, is Keswick.

Walking the halls of Keswick with the peep.

Yes friends. If your ship comes in any time soon, and you’re in the Charlottesville area, you must stay at Keswick. Really. You must. (OH….and they’ve got a sister hotel that allows pooches too just a few miles from where I live.) Our trip to Keswick was to celebrate something special a few years back. (I’d saved up some cash in my piggy bank for the occasion.) The nice people in the lobby remembered my name every time I came and went. OooohHHHHHooooo…and the trails are very nice to stroll along. Nice, huh?

OK pals. That’s it for this installment of Stuart’s List. There’s more, but I’ve got squirrels to chase and naps to take.

You know what you learned today. ‘Nuf said.

Fantastic. There are, apparently, a few hotels in Australia where we dogs are welcome, but I doubt we’ll be able to stay there….

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

Is Keswick on a mountain? It must be because you guys can’t stand up straight.

  3. Thanks for the tips! Momma and I will keep them in mind if we go visiting in that area.

  4. Will and Eko says:

Love to see so many places becoming pet-friendly. I’m sure it’s the same with Stuart, but whenever I travel with Eko, he is the hotel’s favorite guest.

  5. Stuart’s list – that’s a great idea. That’d come in very useful for anyone in your country travelling with a pet

  6. Susie and Sidebite says:

Well it sounds like we need to talk the peeps into a real vacation so we can go to one of those places, in lieu of just staying hmoe for a week or two, the tight wads

  7. Dougall says:

You could start your own doggy travel agency!

  8. Lee says:

Oh Stuart we tend to stay at bed and breakfasts inns. But we would love Keswick or Roanoke or Stonewall.
