Thank Dawgness for Pill Pockets

pill pocketsSome of you may remember that I have an aversion to pills. Of any kind. I HATE my monthly Trifexis pill. That’s a strong word, but it’s not strong enough in my book. I HATE IT.

So I’m having a little procedure tomorrow – say a prayer for me please – and I need to take some antibiotics before hand. I’m having my teeth cleaned. And NOT looking forward to it. I’ll be away from home all day, nothing to eat after 10 PM tonight (what could be worse?), no peeps. Geez.

Anyroo, when the peep picked up these pills, She said, “Hey, these pills look like human pills. How am I supposed to give these to Stuart????”

“Well, peanut butter works well.”

“Nope. That won’t work.”

“Really? How about cheese?”

“Nope.”

“A little piece of chicken?”

“Nope. Y’all don’t believe me, but Stuart won’t eat any of those things. Especially with a pill hidden inside. He’s not stupid. It takes me all day to get a Trifexis in him. And even then, I have to cut it into four little pieces and smother each one in cottage cheese or stuff it into his Lean Treats all smushed up and he STILL manages to spit the pill parts out. And now you want me to give him not one, but TWO of these antibiotics every day? I’m off to try some pill pockets.”

“Oh, we sell those here.” And home She came with pills and pill pockets.

(Everybody at the dogtor’s office just stared at Her. Never heard of a dog not eating pills in cheese and peanut butter.)

It’s now day four and I’m having NO trouble taking pills. Whew. Thank dawgness for pill pockets. I even took my Trifexis on Saturday with one. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Truly. I can’t.

Repeat after me: I Love Pill Pockets.

What You Learned Today:

  • I’m taking antibiotics for my teeth cleaning procedure tomorrow.
  • I love me some pill pockets. Did I say that already?
  • The peeps are worried about me for tomorrow.
  • But hey, I won’t know what’s going on.
  • I’ll sure be mad at Them for it though. You mark my words.
  • They’ll pay for this little experience…..

The pill pockets didn’t even work for me. This month She put my heartworm pill in something yummy and 15 minutes later I spit out the pill and all the good stuff was gone. I have special dispensation from the Pope, er that’s me, I mean Dr Cohen to break my low fat diet for my monthly heartworm chewie that I love so much. It’s down me in literally a second.
