About Last Night

thinkingYIKES! And I thought it was Ru Paul’s Drag Race – the taped finale to Season 6 – making all that noise last night!!!!

No. We had an earthquake around 9:45 PM. It was a 3.2 magnitude version of the BIG one We had back in 2011.

It rocked the house. Got louder and louder and louder. And it rumbled and rumbled and rumbled.

No damage done, though. But the peep’s gonna check to see if things fell off the shelves. I know I noticed some tilted paintings this morning. Whew.

Back to Ru Paul. Condogulations Miss Bianca Del Rio!!!! You’re the bomb! We loved Courtney Act, too, but you’re the QUEEN OF THE QUEENS!

(NOTE: I like queens, because they’re different. Like me. People call me a skunk. They call me a little old man – when I’m only 8 . They make fun of how slowly I walk and they say lots of things that aren’t kind. I hate being called a skunk. It’s cruel. And people are cruel to lots of people. That’s just not right. And remember, I almost didn’t make it after I was born because of my color and my bent tail, so, my friends, that’s why I embrace all things. ALL things, ALL people…it doesn’t matter to me. We all have this one earth to inhabit. We’d all better just give it up and GET ALONG.)

What You Learned Today:

  • We were minding Our business last night when the rumbling started. Upstairs. On a little glassed-in side porch.
  • Like We do most nights before we lay-me-down-Our-heads-to-sleep….
  • When all of a sudden, the noise started.
  • We thought it was a big truck.
  • Then, one of the peeps thought, “Oh no. Here We are upstairs, with lots of glass around Us, and an earthquake is gonna level the house” but oh contraire my peepstress, never fear, because I AM HERE.
  • I’ll make the rumbling stop.
  • And so, I did.
  • There you have it.
  • HEY…here’s a bit of trivia for you. Did you know that East Coast earthquakes are felt over a much wider area than those on the West Coast?
  • Now you do.
  • You’re welcome.

About The Scottie Chronicles

Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a dog blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. He would have been 12 years old in March 2018. The Scottie Chronicles is dedicated to Stuart and the joy he shared with everyone who met him or saw him from afar. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!

  4. Duffy, Andrew & Elsa says:

That is scary! Nebraska doesn’t have many quakes, but we have had a few. Stuart, you are so precious, I don’t know why someone would be so mean. Just know that we love you. In a sense, aren’t we all a little weird??? It would be so boring if everyone were the same.

  5. Kyla says:

I’ve never been through one. They have been through many, having lived in the SF area. They were in the ball park on 10/17/1989 at 5:04 in the afternoon. Relax Stu, after a few, they’re actually fun.

  6. I’m glad nothing happened to you and your peeps. maybe you should wear a tinfoil hat like Kyla to safe the planet earth? :o)

  7. paigeandspaniels says:

  10. Donna says:

I love the white markings you have. I wish I could find a Scottie who has markings just like you. You are a very handsome Scottie!!

  11. Yikes Stu! We have had one earthquake here and it was a doozy but I knew it was coming before it got here and headed to the basement. As for you looking like a skunk? No way! NO WAY! You’re purrrfect and very distinguished with your white “trim” and anyone who says any different has all of us friends of yours to contend with! So there!

    Hugs, Sammy

  12. Bella & Roxy says:

Hey Stuart, we had one here also, around 10:00pm, it was a 3.6 about 20 miles away, didn’t even wake Bites up, now ME I ran for Dad!

Pees: how was your yard tour, we weren’t home the last 9 days!
    The Mad Scots
Pees Two, NO SKUNK, your just a cool dude in his tux!

  16. theguster says:

Stuart, remember this: People who say mean things to you may look ‘perfect’ on the outside but they are ugly on the inside and when they speak, it shows. It is because some people who are insecure or lack confidence in themselves will always try to turn the attention away from their perceived shortcomings and focus on someone else. Don’t fall for it. You are perfect inside and out!

Pay them no mind and remember your loving peeps saw the beauty and goodness in you and when they chose you, they chose a winner!

P.S. Did the peeps put your thunder shirt on you during the earthquake? I am glad nothing bad happened.

    McDuff & Mom

  17. Goodness, we’re glad to hear that you are safe & sound. As for the unkind things people have said to you Stu…you just kick some dirt of them and walk away!

We feel your pain. Mom survived Andrew in 1992 and Francis, Jean, and Wilma. The howling wind is scary. Watching the pool enclosure come down three times was even more scary. We do not have one any more.

  22. Glad to hear you and the peeps are safe! OMD we didn’t know until reading your blog! What a month between the tornado and earthquake you’ve been through your share of scares! Oh and we love your white markings you’re so handsome!

  23. Yikes! I’ve never experienced an earthquake. Scary!

Go ahead...Bark Out Loud! ArroOOOO!
