Whew Wee

DSCN2509Whew. What a weekend. I can’t tell you how glorious the howliday weekend was around here. No humidity. Not too hot. The peeps and I had a ball.

Now I’m sleeping. Because it’s just the thing to do today. After all those blasted fireworks displays that went on ALL WEEKEND, I’m one tired pooch. Hiding behind the toilet is hard work.

What You Learned Today:

  • I’m not a fan of heat. In fact, I hate it.
  • The peeps hate it, too.
  • It gets so hot here, I can’t stand it.
  • So, when the weather’s nice, I like to hang outside.
  • I also hate fireworks. Absolutely hate them.
  • The peeps mistimed Their dinners out, though, over the howliday and didn’t get home to help me feel better when fireworks started.
  • So, what did They find when They finally got back? Me. Behind the toilet.
  • It’s not pretty.
  • HEY!!! DON’T FORGET TO UPDATE THE BLOGTIONARY! Submit your words in the comment section of this post.
  • Here’s a new one: WTF = What the fur/fluff????
  • Sweet, huh?

About The Scottie Chronicles

Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a dog blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. He would have been 12 years old in March 2018. The Scottie Chronicles is dedicated to Stuart and the joy he shared with everyone who met him or saw him from afar. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!

WTF? That’s not the way it was explained to me.

Why behind the toilet? Does it have a great view of the TV? Does the air conditioning blow cold there? Are there snacks close by? Those are important considerations. You should research the best spots in advance, don’t wait for an emergency.

    • I kind of like “what the fur?” Thought it was clever. But not as clever as hiding next to the toilet. See, it’s cool on the tile floor and I snug right up between the wall and the toilet. With my head facing back against the other wall. Get it? I knew you would. Anyroo, that’s a terrific idea about the food. I’ll have to get the peeps to make sure there’s food on the floor. If I’m in the upstairs bathroom, I hunker down between the door and the wall. Now you’ve got the picture.

  2. Stu….why didn’t you have your Thundershirt on…..btw we could add that to the blogtionary.

  3. I don’t mind da fireworks, I even fell asleep during da fireworks show.

  4. theguster says:

Stuart, just make sure wherever it is that you squeeze yourself into to hide from the noise that you can easiy get out. What if you got stuck behind the toilet and the peeps had to call a plumber? Always plan ahead, as Kyla suggested with the treats. Make sure your ‘safe place’ is a ‘safe place’.

The other day I suggested ‘scottitude’ for the blogtionary but I’m not sure if you got to see it!

    No humidity says it all.

  6. corkscot says:

As we are writing, the crazy fool neighbors are still setting off firecrackers. ENOUGH!!!!! Sid doesn’t even want to go outside anymore.

  7. Duffy, Andrew & Elsa says:

I (Duffy) hide behind the toilet also! I hide there whenever Mum says it’s time for a groomin’, or when it thunder booms or the fireworks go off. My other favorite place is the walk-in shower in Dad’s bathroom (but sometimes the door is closed). “WTF” is said by our peeps a lot. We like your version better 🙂
You should add “howliday” to the blogtionary.

  8. we had a couple of wonderful days too but luckily no fear of fireworks here

  9. Lee says:

Oh my city had a wonderful weekend also low temp and low humidity also. Wish the weather could be like that all the time. And fireworks does not bother me at all.

Chase and Stuart have a lot in common! Chase also hates the heat and fireworks! 🙂

  11. Braeden and Seth says:

Our entry to the blogtionary is “barkuuming.” It’s what we do when there are foodable crumbs on the floor. She says we’re better than the Hoover! Sorry you had to hide behind the toilet…Seth was so scared he had an accident on the bed. Or was it Scottie revenge? Either way, it was not a good thing…for Her or Seth. Hope things have quieted down for you and you are having a marvelous Monday!

  12. Sorry your pawrents didn’t get home fast enough buddy 😦 Glad you had wonderful weather though! Hope you had wonderful naps today!

  13. Lucy & Mac says:

we agree…no humidity for a couple of days was great…. as for the firecracker thing, we hate ’em too. not so bad here this year…neighborhood kids are college age now. they all went to the beach which meant all quiet on the homefront !!

PS;the tile bathroom floor is the best for cool bellies, head on cool vent…
    makes for cool Zzzzzzzzzzz’s

  14. Today is officially our coldest day yet this winter, our morning started at a freezing (by South African standards) 28F. Even mom, who is a winter person, had a few choice words about how cold it is.
Oh Stu, we are sorry about the fireworks butt we’re glad you found a cool / comforting spot to hid in whilst your peeps were out.

You do look tired my friend. This holiday kicked my fanny too. Those blasted fireworks went on for days. Why? Who knows. They need to stop now. Get some rest buddy! XOXO – Bacon

  17. Scout's Mom says:

Stuart, I had in the bathroom too during thunderstorms and fireworks! Needless to say, I spent a lot of the past weekend in the bathroom! Not exactly the Ritz but I feel safe and snug in the small dark room. Plus, I’m the official greeting committee to anybody that should have to use the “facilities” and at some point or another they all do!!!! Arooooo….. Scout

  18. that’s a special hiding place…. and it could be more dangerous than the firework I think :o)

  19. Momma stayed with us so we wouldn’t be skeered, but fireworks don’t bother me and Cinderella’s so deaf now she can’t even hear them! I think SHE was the one who was skeered.

Go ahead...Bark Out Loud! ArroOOOO!
