OK. Y’all remember that I HATE TRIFEXIS. The awful, smelly pill in this photo. When I had to eat a bunch of wet food just to get it down. Gross. Nasty. And general pain in the butt.
Well, the peep finally figured out that – lately – cream cheese is all I need to swallow that little bugger every 5th of the month. (Sorry, I think “bugger” might mean something offensive to my British friends. Uh, that’s not what I meant.)
Anyroo, I need something that works on whipworms as well as heartworms, hookworms and those other nasty parasites. I’ve had whipworms twice and it ain’t fun.
So, with February 5th coming up, and the fact that Sentinel is back on the market where I live after being unavailable for so long, I need to make a decision.
Here I am trying to make a decision:
So, what say you my pooch pals and peeps?
Are all those urban myths about Trifexis true? Should I go back to Sentinel? It’s not that hard anymore for me to take that nasty big ‘ole Trifexis pill. But Sentinel is easier. But I have to go someplace else to get it. My dogtor doesn’t sell it.
Or, should I forgo the meds altogether? Naw, I think not. That would be nice, though, wouldn’t it? If I’d leave the kitty bon bons and other delectable snacks alone…..
Ooh me. What would YOU do? Think I’ll call my dogtor tomorrow.
You need to get yourself a parrot. Birds eat worms. We may be noisier than Trefexis or Sentinel, but can those pills poop on your head?
ROFL…..
I can’t make a decision for you Stuart drugs are chemicals you got to decide what works for you.
Sweet William The Scot
Drugs. I don’t like the sound of that….
we don’t know…this is a question that is going on at our house also. let us know what you decide..
L&M
I sure will. Gotta call the dogtor tomorrow.
I don’t know what either of these are so I’d recommend eating cream cheese, that sounds pawfect to me!

Chase lives in Atlantic Canada… this is the first we have ever even heard of whipworm! I had to Google it just to figure out what it was. Sounds like awful things to get.
As we have no experience with this, I would suggest going with the safest of the two! If one of them is known for having negative affects, go with the other 🙂
She also considered switching us to Sentinel from Trifexis. But She still isn’t comfortable with the Sentinel, even though they seem to have fixed the problems. Braeden doesn’t like the Trifexis, and it takes 4 pill pockets for him to get it down, but She figures it’s worth it since he’s had those nasty whipworms on a few occasions. Seems the only way to rid yourself of them is to either dig out the yard or burn it 😮 so, for us it’s Trifexis. Even little Riley. We’ve not had any side effects from it, so It works for us. And our vet does not carry Sentinel either. But if you do decide to switch, Costco carries it. Unfortunately we gotta keep the meanies away so we stay healthy. It’s a tough decision. But we know you’ll work it out! You’re one smart Scottie!
Waggies,
Braeden, Seth and Riley
I’d just go wif whatever gets ya cream cheese.
We haven’t had to deal with this issue, so we wouldn’t be able to provide a comparison. SHE says we would go with the safest way. But SHE loves cream cheese – go figure. Good luck.
Jacques takes the Trifexis (he’s overdue – yikes!) & hasn’t had any problems. He’s been on it for almost 3 years. I have found that he does need to eat a little when he takes it, otherwise he gets an upset tummy. So, I switched from giving it to him in a pill pocket to feeding him filet mignon flavored food. He takes it with no problems. He’s happy and healthy. And I’m happy and not stressed. It’s a win-win! Good luck, buddy!
Hmmmmm, you and the Peeps should have a talk with the dogtor about this and discuss all your fears and options. You seem to have a good relationship with him and I bet he could help you make a decision. We hope there will be an easy solution to this for you!

Ahhhhhhh, easy disicion here…what works best for you.
The Mad Scots
I have tried salmon cream cheese with nova lox wrapped around Confortis and they have gotten all of the cheese and lox off and left the pill.I’m glad that it worked for you.
Stuart, your Mom needs to ask your Vet if Sentinel is going to be effective or has been trialed since it was put back on the market. If your current med is working and is just inconvient, it might not be worth changing. Good luck!
Marty and Mom
Hi Suart! Mom says that she doesn’t know if Sentinel addresses the whipworm problem, but if you like Trifexis with cream cheese why not stay with Trifexis since the only problem with Trifexis was you getting it down. Mom gives my Sis’ and me Trifexis, but I have gotten tapeworm from my neighbor’s kitty bonbons, and Trifexis does not get rid of tapeworm! If there was something she could give me every month that took care of tapeworm too, she’d get it! All she does now it take me to the vet to get some deworming meds. I’m always keeping mom on her toes! Tee-hee! Hope my story helps you!
XOXOXO Riley-Puppy
Catching parasites, dear Stuart, depends a lot on where you live and whether they are endemic to that area. It also depends on how much you go out in the wild and become exposed to what is out there. Cats that are well taken care of do not have any worms or disease any more than pet dogs. The decisions do not only involve the medicines but also the entire environment where you live and play. Do a lot of google research …. Good luck and be a good doggie, take the pills for goodness sake!!!! bye, Vera
It is a big decision but i think it is a good idea to take it as you have had problems in the past. We vote getting sentinel because it isn’t as awful and the peeps can stock upso they don’t have to go out of their way too often. ❤
Oh Stu that face….just sayin..I have no idea we have no problems with stuff here as the boys eat before they think..i even make them beg bwahaaa no clue! the girls however..sheesh cats are always onto us! i think discuss with your vet the options and the pros and cons..he would be more aware of issues as he is in the bizz! so good luck my friend..loves Fozziemum xx
I bet your dogtor would have some good advice BUTTTT I’m thinking that cream cheese is hiding your current pill pretty good and is mighty yummy so why switch back??? Just sayin…….
Hugs, Sammy
hmmmm…. maybe you can ask a dogtor or maybe some more dogtors what they think? I’m more for sentinel, maybe your peeps can buy it online? the main thing is it works and it’s not bad for you Stuart.
I, personally, would wait a year or so to go back on the Sentinel, just in case they didn’t quite fix it, but yeah, you should probably talk to your dogtor 🙂 plus CREAMCHEESE!!!
Dear Stuart,
Have been on Sentinel with no problems for over a year.
Kiki and Cally
Sorry Stu old man (figuratively of course) – we can’t help – our Mom keeps us on the Trifexius – so far almost 5 years – we are doing great – and so we continue on…Hope something turns up that will be the best solution for you…you look so ‘undecided’? in your picture…Our best – Tobias, Cherry and Shadow..
