It’s New Year’s Day. And though Stuart isn’t physically here to start our new year off with a bang, or in his case, with a s-l-o-w saunter or a Scottie waddle, he will always be with us.
Here’s proof. Look at this photo!
This little fellow was waiting for us when we returned from being away the week of Christmas. We had to get out of the house. There’s nothing worse than an empty house that was once filled with laughter, love and life with a Scottish Terrier.
But we can’t stay away forever. And that’s one of the reasons this little “Angel Stuart” brought such tears to our eyes the night we returned from our trip. There he was. Waiting for us all snug as a bug in a box that a nice neighbor noticed on our doorstep and safely stashed in our mailbox while we were away.
That was last Sunday night. Angel Stuart goes with me everywhere. I put him in my pocket and give him elevator rides between floors. Like we did with Stuart when he was either being stubborn or had trouble seeing the steps or trouble jumping off the sofa or bed. It’s hard to tell with a Scottie isn’t it? Whether it’s stubbornness or something else?
We pat Angel Stuart on the head, talk to him, give him kisses and love him. And, in true Stuart style, he never answers back. But the look in his eyes says it all.
Today we said to him, “Happy New Year little fella. It’s so nice to have you with us. Always.”

I so agree with you and empty house is so darned sad and to see the beloved furkid everywhere and to know he isn’t there is the worst. But now this little angel is on your side and it is a connection to Stuart, I’m sure. I wish you all the best for 2016, may it be a better year than this haunted 2015 what brought so much tears to so much of us…

What an incredibly kind and loving gift. It tells how much love Stuart generated. Stuart moving on to his next adventure is very painful for you left behind. I can say all the words that he is always with you, in your heart, is pain and disease free, that he is flying with the angels but the truth is it hurts, hurts real bad. We understand and hope that understanding can give comfort. Strange, we have one of those little statues but ours is plain and does not have the white patches on it. Sending more hugs.

We are so happy to see you back.Angel Stuart is beautiful. I keep a key chain in my car with a tag from each Scottie that has passed. It brings me a modicum of comfort while driving on the crazy roads.

At this time last year, I was hoping that 2015 would be better for Scotties than 2014 (RIP Daisy, Jazzi, Kyla). It didn’t happen (Angus Fala, Stuart). I’ve probably missed someone. However, 2016, although you have easy acts to follow, get an A+ at this time next year because nothing bad happened.
Knew Stuart’s spirit would show up again… remember the phone call to the tech support guy named Stuart you wrote about? No coincidences – all part of dear Stuart’s energy reaching out to you in tangible ways. He is your guardian angel, and will always be with you. I have the tags of Tog, Wastson, and Jesse on their collars, hanging off the brass bedposts of our bed so we can say goodnite to them every day.

I have an Angel MacDuff, Watson, Sherlock and soon have Angel with Kip. Dread that coming as Kip is special. Those Scotties are something else! They stay with you and never let you know anything is wrong with them! They are our companions and protectors as long as they are with us. They give us unexpected moments, lots of love and stare at us until we give in to their commands!!! The most wonderful companion in my life have been my Scotties!! I miss Stuart as I did love his spirit, vigor and he was a saucy character!!! So much a Great Scott!!! Thinking of you peeps in your loss of a most marvelous Scottie!
After we lost our two Scotties, Bonnie and Raelinn, our granddaughter gave us two stuffed Scotties which I put the girls collars on and they sit on our bed each day. I would tug on their beards and look in their eyes and there were my girls. We have a new scottie now after waiting two years and Skye is a blessing. She has her own personality totally different from the other 3 Scotties I had. Maybe one day you will add to your family again when the time is right till then I’m sending you hugs and Skye sends you a scottie hello.

And somewhere in the world, maybe not far away, there is or will be another Scottish Terrier, maybe a pup – who cannot replace Stuart ever – ever – but can bring some more of that special charm and fun and love that Scotties specialize in. He or she will honor the memory of your Stuart and help you to smile again. I know ‘cos it happened to me. To honor the beloved pets who went away I took another one to my heart. We live longer than they do … so they leave us, but each one that comes after is also special.

Happy New year. i think of Stuart a lot too. I have some raw fleece from Bev (fozziemum)’s sheep that is just Stuart color and I am preparing it so it is just right. Then we go away for Australia day week holiday 20th Jan to 28th jan and I always take a project with me. This year I will take a little collection of Stuart photos and my hand spun yarn and I will bring back a wee Stuart to send to you. You are both doing well. It is hard. ❤
