Sniglet

Stuart always pondered the world. From several different vantage points:

He also liked to sit on the back steps and wait for me to come home from the gym sometimes.

I looked out the back door last week and there she was. Right  where he used to sit.

Sniglet had come through “their door” between our yard and hers. Completely by surprise.

I couldn’t help but wonder why she was there. Was she waiting for Stuart? Wondering why he doesn’t visit anymore? Or did she come over just to visit? To let us know she still loves us?

Animals are amazing.

About The Scottie Chronicles

Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!

Awww, that made me cry. How sweet. I’m sure she did come to find Stuart or to be close to him in some small way AND to visit with Stuart’s peeps! Poor little Sniglet – she’s hurting just like everybody that loved Stuart. I hope you gave her a treat. 😉

Just as we peeps hold pictures of our dear departed pets close against our hearts when we’re feeling blue without them and touch their favorite toys, stroke the comfy bed they slept in hoping to find some solace, I think Sniglet, was feeling blue without Stuart. She probably knew it might help her to sit on Stuart’s porch, in his spot, and to hear his peeps familiar voices again as they stroke her back and tell her it’s o.k.

I am glad that you found her sitting there, your presence was just what she needed. 💜💜

  5. Sniglet! How cool that she came over and laid down in his spot. She knows where he is; she is mourning tool. Plus, she missed you.

Stuart spent so much time pondering the world. It’s a wonder he didn’t go insane.

Oh My! Animals really touch me with their quiet love and tenderness! This post brought a big lump to my throat and tears to my eyes, seeing the picture of Sniglet at your back door stoop! What, indeed, was she doing there? I really think it is a combination of both of your two conclusions: She is still searching for Stu, mystified as to why he suddenly disappeared and has not returned….maybe waiting for him there at his home’s back door, to see if she has just missed seeing him. I think, too, that Sniglet is aware that her beloved neighbor and friend is gone, but his SPIRIT remains there in his home with the 2 people who continue to love him and who were so kind to him from the minute they set eyes on him, and with her doggie senses, Sniglet knows that there is deep sorrow there, too. So Sniglet’s purpose is two-fold: She is communing with Stu’s spirit, reminiscing his friendship and connection she had with him, plus Sniglet is, in her way, COMFORTING you by visiting you, and being in Stu’s and his Peeps’ familiar area, because Sniglet wants to support you in your painful loss that she feels too. Just like when our pets know us so well that if we are sick or sad they come close to us to comfort us in their special, quiet way. God knew what he was doing, OF COURSE, when he gave us our precious creatures to lift our hearts with the pureness of their LOVE! Since you have always been so kind and welcoming to Sniglet, she knows full well the depth of your love and kindness not only to Stu, but to her too, so even though she is not “your” pet, because of all you have meant to Stu and to her, she has gone through “Their” door connecting your yards, to simply BE there WITH Stu’s spirit and FOR you! If Sniglet could have brought you a bouquet of flowers with a Sympathy card, she would have, but in Dog-Speak with her actions she is doing the equivalent by her visit and her precious body warming your back door step! That is so moving!

She felt the recent “blue” vibe and wanted to make sure you were OK. I think she also just wanted to soak in all things Stuart and ponder his departure. What a great dog friend! And they say dogs don’t have souls. Pish posh. Give Sniglet a petting from us.

Tory had a favorite spot in the dining room and after he passed all of the other Scotties would go and sit in that spot. The present Scots never met Tory, but his spot is their favorite too.

Peeptress, I truly believe Sniglet saw Stuart in his spirit form and came over to be with him! Dogs and little children see things we do not. I had a psychic tell me that Ozzy kept backing away from the door because he saw the spirit of my father in law – mind you this person never met me or my dogs and randomly told me this at a social event that we were both at, not a venue for people to be read….

    • REALLY???? I believe that. I really do. AND I believe you’re right.

Stuart “called” her over to visit. I’d love to know what they talked about.

I like the way you think. So that’s what I’ll think from now on. She sees him. Wish I could see him. I think maybe that’ll happen one day.

Search the blog and find the story about what happened after BoBo passed. Unbelievable. Let me know if you can’t find. I’ll re-post it.

I believe Stuart has sent several little messages to us. And I had a very, very vivid wonderful dream about him a couple of months ago. The Dad peep has seen him.

A poet was discussing the concept of dogs “musing” and I immediately thought of Stu. I thought this again just now. ❤ ❤ <3.
