Months ago, Kadie’s peep sent photos for Friday’s Foto Fun. I posted them here happily, but I never knew about Kadie’s recent journey.
Until today.
You see, a friend I’ve never met sent me a gift. A loving handwritten note, a wonderful card and Kadie’s book.
Why? Because Stuart guided her to.
My friend is a Scottie Chronicles follower and misses Stuart, that little “misfit” Scottie who was actually perfect. And a perfect gentleman. And more. All bundled in a black and white package of love. I miss him so. The Dad Peep misses him. And I know you miss him, too.
Today, we miss Kadie. Kadie won her battle with liver cancer last year, but was called across the bridge last Friday.
Before she left, she and her mom wrote a book about a grand trip they took after she was pronounced cancer free.
I now have a pawtographed copy, thanks to my friend, who is owned by Ozymandias and Calysta.
I keep asking “when will the sadness stop?” and my friend’s generous and thoughtful gift reminds me that I must replace the sadness with the happiness that Stuart and Kadie and so many others brought us.
Portions of the book sales help canine cancer research. To learn more, visit http://www.kadieandkelly.com/ or, if you’re a Facebook member, please search for “remembering kadie”.
Rest easy Miss Kadie. Stuart is ready to show you the ropes. So is Kyla. And Daisy. And Kenzie. And too many others to name.
Those wonderful surprises that come in the mail from loving friends are the best. Mama and I came late to Kadie & her story, but our grief was as profound as if we had known her for ever. Facebook friends, there will be an Auction on FB in July to raise money for Kadie’s medical expenses…$23,000 plus. So if you are so moved, you can donate an auction item, or place some bids. They are gathering items for the Auction now.
Thank you for telling us about the auction!!!
Ditto on that thank you!
The Auction page is Honoring Kadie
We are so very sad to learn of Kadie’s passing. She looked so adorable in the Friday’s Foto Fun in March. We have lost too many of our fur friends, and it feels like our own hearts have stopped!
Kadie’s book looks like a wonderful read and we’ve followed the link to request a copy. We are sending our prayers, hugs and love to Kadie, Stuart, Kyla, Daisy, Kenzie and all the others who have made the journey across The Bridge. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
McDuff & Mom
“Our hearts have stopped” – how appropriate. But just for a while….as my friend says, “We must stay Scottie Strong!”
so sorry for katie and her family. can’t wait to order the book.
Thanks for your support!
It does seem like so very many of our furry friends have left us lately – or over the last year anyway………and it leaves us with an empty feeling that we must learn to fill up with happy and loving memories. Memories make it better – that and knowing that one day we’ll all be reunited with those we’ve loved and lost……………….what a wonderful book Kadie and her Mom did!
Love, Sammy
You’ve got the right perspective. “…an empty feeling we must learn to fill up with happy and loving memories. Memories make it better..” So true. Thank you.
Sometimes these things are easier said than done…..but it will happen……in its’ own time………… 🙂
It seems like it IS never ending! Life is so hard when we lose our dearest loved companions who have been there for us at every turn! They are our pillars, and we collapse without them. We send our heartfelt Love and condolences to Kadie’s dear Mum! Thank you so much, Stu’s Mum for giving us the link to Kadie’s book! We went over there and immediately sent an email to Kadie’s Mum to sell us a copy. She says that part of the sale proceeds will be given to Cancer charities for doggies and humans! The art in the book looks delightfully colorful and beautiful!
May your grieving be comforted, and may God bless you is my request to Kadie’s Mum and to Stu’s Mum and to all of you here and everywhere who have recently or ever lost a beloved four- legged companion. One never gets over such a cruel separation!
Love and Special Caring Thoughts to you all,
Riley-Puppy, Tessie-Girl and their Mum
Such a loving comment. Thank you Riley and Tessie-Girl’s Mum. And thank you for your blessing. We need it. We all do.
The illustrations in the book are a joyful. And that makes me happy! You’ll love it.
We have been following the story of Kadie on Facebook. You have been instrumental in getting us yo know many wonderful dog people. We thank you again for all that you do for animals.
Your comment gives me strength to keep on blogging. For a while there recently, I thought about giving it up. Too painful. Too hard. But I thank you for your continued support.
Thank you for your touching words. Yes, Stuart did make mommy buy you that book. We talk about him all the time… when we track squirrels and bunnies on our early am walk, when we snoopervise looking out the front window or door, when we rest in the shade under the dogwood tree… my white blaze and milk chin makes mommy think of Stuart’s handsome markings…
Ozymandias aka Ozzy
Ozzy is carrying on the Stuart tradition! White blaze! Milk chin!! That makes a happy me.
Godspeed Kadie. And I’m gonna buy that book.
You’ll love it.
