Winston welcomes you to The Scottie Chronicles - a blog that began in 2009 as a voice for Stuart, a more than memorable black, brindle and white Scottish Terrier who captured hearts around the world. Stuart passed suddenly in December 2015 from cardiac hemangiosarcoma, a nasty cancer that took him far too early. If you love Scotties, please follow along. Arroooo!
I had no idea. I am so so sorry to hear this. Perhaps I missed some posts but was Toby ill? Oh, I’m so sorry.
He wasn’t in good health. It’s such a loss. Thank you.
Not Sweet Toby! I’m just so sorry! π
It was a shock to be sure. Thank you.
Kyla, Kenzie, Stuart, Jazzi and Daisy will greet him. I’m sure I left someone out but I’m upset.
Whitley too.
Yes, you’re right. I’m sure there are others that I didn’t mention. It’s overwhelming.
It’s just too much.
Oh, I didn’t know that Toby was ill. He was so precious and just adorable. I’m so glad you got to spend time with him. Kipper will greet him too!
We’re lucky to have spent good times with him. Kipper and Stuart welcomed him with open paws.
OMG…… what irony! Well at least Stuart & Kadie were there to greet Toby at the bridge.
Heartfelt paws up here.
Ozzy, Callie & Mommy
He had many, many fine greeters over the bridge. It must have been such a sight!
No, this cannot be, not again. We are so sad to find out this awful news about sweet Toby. His recent visits with Stuart’s peeps were as much a treat for all of us as they were for them.
Sending hugs and prayers to his family. π
XOXO
McDuff & Mom
You’re kind. His peeps are very appreciative of the Blogville love.
Godspeed, Toby!
It’s a terrible loss. Thank you for caring.
Deep peace of the running wave to you. Deep peace of the quiet earth to you. Deep peace of the shining stars to you. Deep peace of the infinite peace to you Toby. So sorry to hear this news about Toby. I know how much you enjoyed his visits.
Sweet William The Scot
Such sweet and comforting words. Thank you.
No, no, no, no, no! NO. We are so terribly sorry. However, he is reunited with precious Stuart. Damn.
Damn is the word. I seem to be saying it all the time these days.
What devastating news. Please don’t let this stop you from ever getting another companion.
It is devastating. We’ll keep an open mind.
We are crushed………did not know he was ill. So glad you were able to spend time with him. We will go to our quiet place now and think of him n others. Godspeed, indeed and RIP.
P.S. Peace be in your heart for being his friend and a source of love.
Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Thank you my friend. Heaven must be a wonderful place with so many wonderful anipals. It’s awful to be left behind.
Oh no, Toby, too? What’s up with all the losses and unbearable grief in the past several months? My heart can’t take this, and I know the hearts of many others are breaking, too. My most sincere condolences to Toby’s peeps and to you, as you had opened up your hearts and home to him, so this is yet another loss for you. Those of us who have our loved ones with us need to give out extra hugs tonight and cherish every moment we have with them.
Your hugs are comforting as are your words and thoughts. Thank you.
Oh no. Sending loving thoughts to Toby’s family. And to you and hubby also. This is so sad for all. Another ‘Angel Scotty’ . Heavy sigh……bless them all.
Toby’s family appreciates your kindness. We do, too.
Such sad news and my heart goes out to Toby’s family. There are no words that can express the soul wrenching loss of our beloved Scotties. I’m still grieving for my Dr. Watson who passed over the proverbial bridge only a few weeks ago. Much, love and Dog Bless.
We must stay strong for each other. Thank you, Deb. I know this is tough for you, too.
Oh no…….Toby is gone too? How lovely that you got to have a visit with him before he left to join Stuart and so many others who have left us. Sorry he was ill or did he just decide it was his time? We’re sending you special hugs……has to be very hard……..
Love, Sammy and Mom Pam
It was his time to go over the bridge. How fortunate we were to spend time with him and get to know his funny ways. Miss him terribly.
I’m sure you do miss him……. π¦
Oh noooo… my heart is as heavy as a rock… Hugs to you all… and a big Thank You to Toby… I bet he knew how important his visits were and how much every visit meant for you…
I think he did know why he was visiting us. He was a great comfort. Now he’s gone. Unbelievable.
heartfelt condolences to everyone here – I always feel like all these precious animals are part of my extended family so I feel the loss with you, Toby’s peeps and all the Scottie Chronicles family.
We do pull together as a family don’t we? Thank you for putting it that way.
Oh no!! I’m crying here my friends. Another great one gone. Life is too much sometimes. XOXO – Bacon
It’s too, too much. Thank you pal.
First I hear about Mr. Silky, and now Toby! June 28th was a terrible day for us here on Earth. I bet they are having a good time at the Bridge though. Til we meet again, Toby. – Captain Ainsley McKenna, 21st Illinois Scottie Regiment
Ainsley, I think you’re right. A good time indeed.
We are blessed beyond blessings, for all these kind words for and about our sweet Toby. There are is no way we could ever put into the right words how lucky we were to share 13 wonderful years with him. And, how blessed we are to have Stuartβs peeps in our lives and taking such wonderful care of our silly, sassy, Scottie boy. He loved exploring Stuartβs yard and finding Stuartβs toys around the house. He was comfy there and that meant everything to us. Some over the top strange circumstances found us not being able to have Toby with us these last few days. But, he was in a safe and happy place with Stuartβs peeps and this is a gift we will always be grateful for. This grief is hard, nothing that will take it away. There is the comfort knowing that Stuart is there for Toby and they are sharing long ARROOOS with each other. Glad to finally meet. They are watching and knowing they are forever lovedβ¦β¦
We’d do it all over again. Thanks for sharing him with us.
Oh, NO! This is so sad…..I’m so, so sorry, Nan… and Toby’s peeps. Those sweet dogs leave such a deep imprint on our hearts.
Thanks, Jackie. Hard to believe. There are no answers to the many questions I have about “why??”.
Oh dear – we are so sorry and left with no words. We did not realize Toby was ailing. Hugs to Toby’s peeps and hugs to you. Run free, sweet Toby…
Edgar and his mum
Thanks my Edgar Friend.
I am going to be strong for you. I am sending virtual hugs. It is the circle of life and we just have to treasure every moment we get with each other. And keep going. β€οΈ
Thanks for reminding me to stay strong. Thank you for your strength.
We really do get by with a little help from our friends. Stu wants me to keep an eye on you because he knows you will be OK again after this very difficult bit. Also, there is no hurry, Stu went at his own pace and so must you. β€ β€ β€
Can you tell us what happened ?
I will. Later. Thank you for caring.
This is too heartbreaking. When you can breathe, please tell us what happened. It is so hard to comprehend Toby is gone too and somehow knowing helps to comfort. What a kind friend sharing your love and Toby. Fly with all the Scottie Angels Toby.
I need to do that. When some of the dust settles from this tragedy, I’ll be sure to let you know. Thank you for caring.
Not you Toby! Not another sweetheart. This is so sudden… the peep is tearing again…
Tears all the way around. Too sad.
Oh no, another sweet Aroooo gone from the Scottie choir. He seemed so chipper in his landscaping video. We will listen on the wind for the echos.
Bonnie and Kenzie
Wait! What happened?????? What did I miss? I did not even see this! My husband had an out patient angiogram and angioplasty on Friday the 1st of July, and I did not open any emails because we were at the hospital almost all day. What happened? Is it Our Toby who stays at your house? Dear God, this is a shock, and I do not know what to say! I am floored and an so very sorry! I just don’t know what to say. How terrible for Toby’s Mum and Dad and of course you, Dear, Dear Nan! I am so terribly sorry!!
Will collect myself and write later. I am so, so sorry!
Love,
Laura
Our Dear Nan, our hearts are breaking ! First sweet Stuart and now Toby! I believe God must have needed a couple more Scotties in his fold. I have no doubt Stuart met Toby at the bridge and they are running and playing and having a good time together with all the other animals. I’m sending BIG HUGS and prayers to you and your hubby and to Toby’s peeps. May the love he and Stuart gave ya’ll always be felt by you. Thank You for sharing both of these wonderful Scotties with all of us.
